* Advanced Version
The Advanced Magento Integration includes the ability to assign multiple categories to products right from within your point of sale. This feature saves tons of time by letting you do all of your product category assignments via bulk product updates.
Category Formatting
The Assign Multiple Categories feature uses the Product Notesin point of sale to hold more category information. When engaged, the Categories set in point of sale will be assigned PLUS any category assignments in Product Notes.
Channels will attempt to match on any existing Categories in Magento first. If any level of the category assignment does not exist, Channels will create a new category.
As per best practice, three category levels are supported. This information must be the only thing in the Product Notes field and must be formatted thusly:
- TopCategory.SecondaryCategory.TertiaryCategory
- TopCategory.SecondaryCategory
- TopCategory
When entering multiple category assignments into the Product Notes field, each entry must be separated by a comma. Entries are NOT case sensitive.
Assignments must include all categories above the destination category to ensure that the assignment is accurate. However, you need only use the category levels that the assignment requires from the Category Tree.
Some examples:
- Mens.Jackets.Wool, Electronics.Speakers, Womens.Jackets.Hoodies, Televisions
would have the same effect as:
- mens.jackets.wool, electronics.speakers, womens.jackets.hoodies, televisions
Example from LightSpeed Onsite Product Notes Tab
Bulk Assignment of Category Assignments can be performed by updating the Product Notes field using LightSpeed Import Tools or Channels DataTools for Lightspeed Retail.
