About Customer Types
Customer Types in LightSpeeed Cloud are groups of settings that can include a Tax Category and a Discount. A Customer Type can be a handy tool for sorting and grouping Customers, managing Discounts, and managing Taxes.
We recommend creating your Tax Categories and Discounts manually in LightSpeed Cloud before performing customer imports. When importing a customer file, Channels Import Tools for LightSpeed Cloud allows you to create a new Customer Type or assign an existing Customer Type.
Creating a New Customer Type
To create a new Customer Type, enter the desired name of the Customer Type in the Customer Type column of the Customer Import Template. If desired, you can add an existing Tax Category and/or Discount to their respective columns and these settings will be assigned as the default settings for the new Customer Type.
You may also edit these settings manually later in LightSpeed Cloud.
Assigning an Existing Customer Type
When assigning an existing Customer Type, you do not need to put anything in the Tax Category or Discount columns, simply enter the desired Customer Type in the Customer Type column.
