Taxes as a Line Item
In same cases your regional tax collection requirements may be more complex, and require complicated configuration to support the default tax setting, Match on Tax Code Name. In cases like these you can use Taxes as a Line Item mode for a simplified alternative.
Note: Heartland Retail allows advanced tax sync and requires no tax configuration.
In Taxes as a Line Item mode, your integration syncs the tax total from the Magento order to a placeholder product called Magento Taxes as a line item on each sale to represent the tax value. The order or sale itself will be assigned the tax named "No Tax".
This allows for more complex tax calculations to be performed in Magento while ensuring that order, invoice, and sale totals are correct when downloading orders into your point of sale.
Integration Tax Settings
In order for this mode to function you must create two Taxes in your point of sale, both with a 0% rate. They must be named exactly:
- "No Tax"
- "Magento Taxes"
More info about creating taxes can be found in your integration setup documentation:
Note: If you are using a third party tax calculation plugin in Magento, the tax value is usually available via the Magento API and can also be passed through your integration to POS.
Note: In some cases we've confirmed orders created by third party extensions may not include complete tax details via the API. In these cases the third party extension's developer will need to add more tax information to orders created by their extension for that information to sync.
