Every 90 days you will need to update the password for the Lightspeed user the Accumula Channels for Mac app uses to connect to Lightspeed. Some versions of Lightspeed Onsite allow you to uncheck "Passwords expire every 90 days" to remove this requirement. You can find that checkbox in Lightspeed by navigating to Tools > Setup > Users.
The instructions below will assist you in updating your password.
Important: Failure to update the Lightspeed Password for the Accumula User will result in no data transferring to/from your Accumula integration and Lightspeed.
Tip: We recommend setting up an alert in Reminders and/or Calendar on the computer so that you won’t forget this critical step.
Step 1: Stop Channels
- On your Lightspeed Server Computer, open System Preferences.
- Click on Channels.
- Press the Stop Channels button.
Step 2: Update Lightspeed Password
Lightspeed has documentation for updating user passwords available here but please read below for our guide.
- Identify the Lightspeed user the Accumula integration uses to login.
- Log into Lightspeed Onsite with the Lightspeed User Name that Accumula uses to connect to Lightspeed.
Note: If no record of the password exists, you may reset the password for this user from another Lightspeed admin account by navigating in Lightspeed to Tools > Setup > Basics > Users. You will still need to login as the user complete the password reset process. - Recommended: Logout and then login one more time to confirm the Password works.
Note: If receiving a User Locked error message see Unlocking Users below.
Step 3: Update Password in Channels
- Navigate back to Channels.
- Update the Lightspeed Password.
- Click Start Channels.
Important: DO NOT PRESS THE UPDATE CHANNELS BUTTON!
Unlocking Users
If its been more than 90 days since the last password update the Lightspeed User may be locked. To unlock a user you will need to Log into Lightspeed Onsite as an Administrator and unlock the User under Tools > Setup > Basics > Users.
Note: If no record of the password exists, you may reset the password for this user from another Lightspeed admin account by navigating in Lightspeed to Tools > Setup > Basics > Users. You will still need to login as the user per Step 2: Update Password and complete the password reset process.
