Accumula provides complete integration of inventory to Shopify; more than just updating inventory quantities. Accumula can also match your point of sale products to products in an existing Shopify store.
Accumula integrates Shopify with the following Point of Sale systems:
Inventory Master
Inventory data flows from your integrated point of sale to Shopify turning your point of sale into the source of truth for inventory in both systems.
Product Creation
Create new Shopify products from your point of sale just by adding the "accumula" tag to the product in your point of sale.
Product and Variant Fields
Product Title
The Shopify product title is the primary key for identifying products in Shopify. It is also how Shopify automatically generates the handle and basic SEO fields for your product. It is best to give each product a unique title so that your listings are easy to manage and easy for your customers to navigate.
Product Title is normally mapped from the Web Short Description in your point of sale. If your product has no Web Short Description, Accumula will use the "Description" from your point of sale as the product title in Shopify.
Product Description
The Shopify Product Description is critical for engaging with shoppers. The description should give your customer all the info they need to decide if the product is right for them. Be sure to include info about materials and special features, or even a story; the more creative, the better. Imagine what your team might say to a customer in conversation on your retail floor. 87% of shoppers find the Description to be critical in their decision.
Variant SKU
The Shopify variant SKU is the most common way to identify variants in Shopify. Variant SKUs are mapped from one of up to four possible SKU Sources in point of sale. Depending on your POS these may be one of the following:
- Custom SKU, Item Number, or Product Code
- System ID or Product ID
- UPC or if using Heartland a Custom Field
- Manufacturer SKU
Note: Heartland only supports SKU Source of Item Number or UPC.
Note: When using Lightspeed Retail if your SKU source is blank the integration will use the item's "System ID" as the variant SKU.
Matrix and Grid Products
Grids and matrices play an important role in online merchandising. Generally, products that have variants should be setup in a matrix or grid in point of sale. You may wish to organize products with multiple color options into their own grids or matrices (one matrix for red variants, another for blue variants, and a third for white variants).
Images should be saved to the grid or matrix. Accumula will send images assigned to the matrix and one image from each variant item. If each of your variants typically use the same image our support team can disable variant image sync to prevent duplicates from appearing in the Shopify image gallery.
Note: Most point of sale solutions limit how many images a single product can contain.
Sending Products to Shopify
The integration checks during each sync cycle for updated or new products which are flagged to be created in Shopify. We recommend only flagging products once you're done setting them up in your point of sale. Flagging an incomplete product to sync may result in an incomplete product being created in Shopify.
In all new accounts the integration will create Shopify products in draft status and unpublished. If you'd prefer that the integration creates all Shopify products as published and active please contact our support team.
Lightspeed Retail
- Each Item or Matrix that you wish to transfer to Shopify must be tagged with "accumula", "shopify", "webstore", or "online".
Lightspeed Onsite
- Each Product or Matrix that you wish to transfer to Shopify must have the "Sell on Webstore" box checked.
Heartland Retail
- Each Item or Grid that you wish to transfer to Shopify must be tagged with "accumula", "shopify", "webstore", or "online".
Match on the Fly
In new accounts, by default, the integration will match new products to existing Shopify products before creating them. Accounts can still select "Real Time" sync which does not check Shopify for matches before creating products.
Match on the Fly can be configured by Accumula support to check existing Shopify SKUs or Barcodes for a match using any of the SKU sources from your point of sale. If a unique match is found the product is linked to the existing listing instead of creating a new product.
