Online Gift Card sync is supported on Premium or Omni Plan with Shopify Plus.
Omni Plan provides complete Omnichannel Gift Card support. You can sell Gift Cards Instore or Online and the balance will be synced automatically between point of sale and ecommerce in both directions.
Premium Plan creates Online Gift Cards automatically in Lightspeed Retail and updates their balance as they are redeemed online.
- New Gift Cards will appear as normal Lightspeed Gift Cards on Sales, as a line item with a $0 price.
- Online Gift Card Payments will also show as a Gift Card payment on the downloaded Sale. No action needs to be taken to process these transactions in Lightspeed Retail.
NOTE: When an Online Gift Card Sale is downloaded to Lightspeed Retail, the Shipping Name on the Ecommerce Order is attached to the Gift Card when it is created and a Lightspeed Retail compatible serial number is automatically assigned.

Payments will appear with a negative Gift Card payment if the Gift Card was sold and a positive Gift Card payment if the Gift Card was redeemed. This ensures that the price of the Gift Card is not recognized as revenue in Lightspeed until the Gift Card is redeemed.

Basic and Pro Plan
If your Shopify account is Basic or Pro Plan the Gift Card are handled differently because Standard Shopify accounts do not allow API access to Shopify Gift Cards. On Basic and Pro Plan, Online Gift Cards download similar to Instore Gift Cards sold online; the Sale includes the Shopify Gift Card placeholder item with a price equal to the Gift Card amount. These Gift Cards can then be processed by following the same process as Instore Gift Cards sold online for Lightspeed Retail or Lightspeed Onsite.
