When an Online Gift Card is purchased on Shopify, the shopper immediately receives an email notification of the serial number so that the Gift Card can be used in Shopify. When checking out on Shopify, the shopper simply enters the serial number to pay for all or part of their order. More info about Shopify Gift Cards can be found in the Shopify Manual.
Online Gift Cards use Shopify's built in gift card engine and can be redeemed online in Shopify.
With Enterprise (formerly Omni) or Growth (formerly Premium) Plan, when an Online Gift Card is sold in Shopify or Shopify Plus, a corresponding Instore Gift Card is created in point of sale assigned to the Shipping Name included on the Shopify Order. When the Gift Card is redeemed online, the balance is updated and applied in point of sale.
NOTE: If a Gift Card is disabled in Shopify Plus, it will be archived in Lightspeed Retail automatically.
Online Gift Card Workflow
Omni Plan supports two-way Omnichannel Gift Card sync of Online and Instore Gift Cards; allowing shoppers to purchase and redeem Gift Cards in both Shopify Plus and in point of sale.
Growth (formerly Premium) Plan
Growth (formerly Premium) Plan supports one way sync of Online Gift Cards from Shopify or Shopify Plus to Point of Sale. Each gift card balance is updated automatically in point of sale as they are redeemed online. Contact Accumula Sales for more information.
NOTE: Due to limitations in the Lightspeed Onsite API, automated redemption of Gift Cards is not yet available for Lightspeed Onsite. Gift Card redemptions must be applied manually.
