When applying a patch or updating Magento 2 it is highly recommended to perform a complete site backup and investigate any known issues with the patch or update beforehand.

For example:
Changes to the Magento 2 API in versions between 2.2.5 and 2.3.3 had breaking and backwards incompatible API changes. Accumula was unable to support new versions of Magento 2 until 2.3.4.
