Inventory data flows from your point of sale to Magento 2, with your point of sale acting as the inventory master. Publish new products from your point of sale.
Accumula integrates Magento 2 with the following point of sale systems:
Important Product Attributes
SKU
The Magento 2 SKU is the primary key for identifying products in Magento 2. According to your POS SKU can be mapped from:
- Lightspeed Retail: Custom SKU, Manufacturer SKU, System ID, or UPC
- Heartland Retail: Item #, UPC, or Manufacturer SKU
- Lightspeed Onsite: Product Code, Manufacturer SKU, Product ID, or UPC
Important for Lightspeed Retail Users: When transferring product data to Magento 2 if the POS SKU is blank the integration will send a notification indicating that the product does not meet Magento's SKU requirements.
IMPORTANT: Magento 2 uses the product SKU to identify the product via the API. If any SKU is manually changed in Magento 2 but not POS it will disconnect that Magento 2 product from the integration.
NAME
The Magento 2 product name has an impact on:
- URL Keys - URL Keys are automatically generated by Magento 2 based on the original Product Name. Updating Product names does not update URL Keys automatically.
- Configurable Product Associations - Simple Products are assigned to the Configurable using the Name of the Configurable Product.
When Product Names will regularly be updated in Magento 2 we strongly recommend manually updating URL keys every time you change product names in Magento 2, and requesting that Accumula Support disable product association.
Special Characters
The Magento 2 API does not handle certain special characters used in SKUs or Product Names. In particular the / symbol will block updates and cause errors and should not be used in either SKUs or Product Names.
Flagging Products to Sync to Magento 2
Products can be set to sync to Magento 2 based on POS by:
- Lightspeed Retail: Tag Matrices and Items "accumula"
- Heartland Retail: Tag Grids and Items "accumula"
- Lightspeed Onsite: Set Products and Matrices to "sell online"
Product Attributes
By default Accumula creates several product attributes in Magento 2:
- accumula_color
- accumula_size
- accumula_third
- upc
- brand
- length
- height
- width
Note: Accumula can use custom attributes for color, size, third, and brand. Contact our Support Team if you would like us to change the attribute updated by the Accumula integration for these values.
Magento 2 Attribute Sets
Accumula may have created up to five Product Attribute Sets in Magento 2:
- Accumula Simple
- Accumula Configurable
- Accumula SizeOnly Configurable
- Accumula ColorOnly Configurable
- Accumula 3 Attribute Configurable
These product attribute sets are used for new products created in Magento 2 by the integration.
Note: When creating new products Accumula can use up to five custom product attribute sets instead of the defaults created by the integration. Please contact our Support Team if you would like to change the attribute sets associated to new products created by the integration.
Configurable Products
Configurable Products play an important role in online merchandising. Generally, products that have multiple options should be setup as a product matrix in point of sale. Accumula supports the four default matrix configurations found in POS: size/color, size only, color only, and 3 attribute.
For best merchandising you may benefit from organizing products with multiple color options into their own matrices, IE: One Matrix for Red, another Matrix for Blue, etc.
Accumula pulls product association directly from the point of sale database to determine which simple products to associate to the Configurable.
Important: The Magento 2 API uses Configurable Product Names to assign product associations. If Configurable Product Names are changed in Magento 2 the product association requests will fail. Please contact Accumula Support if Product Names will be changed to differ from POS regularly.
Matrix Products
Matrices will be created in Magento 2 as configurable products. Visibility will be set to "Catalog, Search". Any products that are part of the matrix will be associated automatically and given a visibility of "Not Visible Individually".
Single Products
Single products will always be created as Simple Products in Magento 2 whose visibility is set to "Catalog, Search".
Note: If a Configurable's Simple Product from a Matrix is mistakenly uploaded as a Single Product without options this may indicate that product data is not saved to the Database correctly in Point of Sale.
